About Effie Greathouse
A Portland, Oregon-based doctor of ecology with decades of research experience, Effie Greathouse has served as the director of Digital Resources for Community and Science since 2012. She formerly served as a database manager with the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station at Oregon State University, where she designed a relational database and data portal with a specific focus on levels of nitrogen and phosphorus in streams. Effie Greathouse has also researched stream nutrients and corresponding landscape attributes for the Environmental Protection Agency, concurrently creating a relational database to store the research information.
Over the course of her career, Effie Greathouse has produced dozens of peer-reviewed book chapters, abstracts, and journal articles, and made numerous scholarly presentations. Professional publications that have released her work include Environmental Research Letters and the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. In 2014, Dr. Greathouse was invited to present at the Community-Based Science for Action Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, and she presented her work on stream nutrients at the Joint Aquatic Science Meeting in Portland, Oregon.
